School Nurse

The Part-Time School Nurse at Holy Cross Academy provides health services to support the physical, emotional, and social well-being of students and staff in a faith-centered educational environment. This role promotes student health and safety, manages health-related needs during the school day, and supports the mission of the school through compassionate care and professionalism.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide first aid, illness assessment, and emergency care to students and staff as needed.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and school policies.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student health records in compliance with school, diocesan, and state regulations.
  • Manage student health plans, including care for chronic conditions, allergies, and medical accommodations.
  • Monitor immunization records and ensure compliance with state and school requirements.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns, injuries, and medical needs.
  • Collaborate with faculty, administration, and support staff to promote a safe and healthy school environment.
  • Provide health education resources and guidance to students and staff as appropriate.
  • Implement infection control procedures and support wellness initiatives.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness planning and response.
  • Uphold confidentiality, ethical standards, and professional nursing practices at all times.
  • Support the Catholic mission and values of Holy Cross Academy through respectful conduct and service.

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license (required).
  • Prior experience in school nursing, pediatrics, or community health (preferred).
  • Knowledge of child development, health education, and emergency care procedures.
  • Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with students, families, and school staff.
