Handwriting Without Tears Get Set for School Program
Three Core Learning Areas
Get Set for School is a curriculum that prepares young learners for school with three complete programs: Readiness & Writing, Language & Literacy, and Numbers & Math. These programs complement and expand the Holy Cross Academy early childhood program.
We use the Learning Without Tears program to introduce the writing of letters and numbers. We will engage your child with the following strategies:
- Creative lessons that enable children of different abilities and readiness achieve
- Child-friendly language and activities
- The hands-on approach that promotes active participation in lessons
- Multisensory instruction: visual, tactile, auditory, and kinesthetic
Students will develop key readiness skills in early learning concepts: drawing, alphabet knowledge, colors, shapes, pre-writing, informal and formal writing, counting, and numbers. This program is a wonderful complement to our early childhood curriculum. HCA also uses the Second Step Social Emotional curriculum to help children learn to identify feelings, regulate emotions, and build friendships.
